# PD-Tyre Troubleshooting

Resolve common PD-Tyre issues.

Resolve common PD-Tyre setup and sensor issues.

## Quick checks

Before digging into a specific error, confirm:

1. The PD-Tyre receiver box is powered on and near the phone.
2. Phone **Bluetooth** and **Location** are turned on.
3. You are logged in to **Proteus Diagnostics**.
4. A vehicle is selected in the app.
5. Wheel sensors are installed and paired (see [Installing PD-Tyre](/pd-tyre/installing-pd-tyre.md) and [Pairing the Sensors](/pd-tyre/pairing-the-sensors.md)).

{% hint style="info" %}
Location is required for Bluetooth scanning. If Location is off, the app shows: *Location is required to connect to Bluetooth. Please enable it.*
{% endhint %}

## Cannot find or connect PD-Tyre

### Symptoms

* **No Devices Found** during search
* **TPMS connect failed**
* **TPMS box not connected**
* **Connecting…** never finishes
* Status stays **Disconnected** / **Not Connect**

### What to try

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Power and range

Turn the PD-Tyre box on. Keep it within a few metres of the phone. Move away from other Bluetooth clutter if needed.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Enable Bluetooth and Location

Turn both on, then open **Profile** → **PD-Tyre** → **Connect TPMS** (or **Search Device**).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Retry the scan

If nothing appears, tap **Scan** / **Search Device** again. Wait for the search animation to finish.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Re-link if the serial number is missing

If you see **PD-Tyre serial number is missing. Please re-link the device.**, remove the stale entry if needed and connect again with **Connect TPMS**.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="info" %}
If this vehicle also has a **PD-Display** and the app asks for the display first, finish **Connect Display**, then continue. Live tyre data may come through PD-Display.
{% endhint %}

## Unable to Bind Device

### Symptom

Search finds the box, but you see **Unable to Bind Device** and *already connected to another user.*

### What to try

1. Confirm you are logged in with the account that owns this PD-Tyre.
2. On the other account, open **Profile** → **PD-Tyre** → device → **Delete PD-Tyre** to unbind it.
3. Return to your account and tap **Connect TPMS** again.

{% hint style="warning" %}
A PD-Tyre box can only be linked to one account at a time.
{% endhint %}

## Connected, but no live tyre data

### Symptoms

* **No live tire pressure data yet. Connect PD-Tyre or PD-Display first.**
* **No TPMS data**
* **Please connect PD-Tyre for tire pressure data**
* **Please connect PD-Display for tire pressure data**
* Wheel cards show `-` / `--`

### What to try

| Situation                   | Action                                                                     |
| --------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| No PD-Tyre on this account | Tap **Connect TPMS** (or buy/connect hardware) |
| PD-Tyre exists but not live | Connect TPMS; keep the box powered |
| Same vehicle has PD-Display | Connect PD-Display when prompted — data may be relayed through the display |
| Sensors not paired | Open **Sensor IDs** and Learn / enter IDs for FL–RR |
| Only some wheels empty | Re-pair that wheel; check sensor battery (**LOW**) |

Also confirm the PD-Tyre is bound to the **current vehicle** (**Connect the vehicles** on the device page).

## Pairing / Learn fails

### Symptoms

* **Learn failed**
* **Scan FL: trigger that tire sensor (45s)…** then timeout
* **FL: no sensor heard** / **No sensor heard for FL**
* **Bind failed, check box power**
* **Need 6 hex digits (0-9, A-F)**
* **Bind failed**

### What to try

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Stay connected

If you see **Please connect PD-Tyre first** or **Not connected — cannot bind**, connect TPMS, then open **Sensor IDs** again.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Retry Learn on one wheel

Open **FL** (or the empty wheel) → tap **Learn** → trigger **only that** wheel’s sensor while the app is listening → tap **Confirm**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Enter the ID manually

If Learn keeps timing out, type the 6‑character ID from the sensor housing (`0–9`, `A–F`) and tap **Confirm**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Check box power

For **Bind failed, check box power**, power-cycle the receiver, reconnect, and try again.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="info" %}
After tyre rotation, Sensor IDs may no longer match FL / FR / RL / RR. Re-pair or re-enter IDs for the new positions.
{% endhint %}

## Cannot edit Sensor IDs or Alert Threshold

### Symptoms

* **Please connect PD-Tyre first**
* **Sensor IDs are synced from PD-Display. Edit them on the Display.**

### What to try

1. Connect PD-Tyre (App Bluetooth) when the phone owns the link.
2. If IDs are managed through PD-Display, edit them on the display as the message says.
3. Keep the box powered until the save toast appears (for example **Low pressure saved**).

## Wrong vehicle or Tire Profile cannot be saved

### Symptoms

* **Select a vehicle for this PD-Tyre**
* **Connect or buy a PD-Tyre to save tire profiles on this vehicle.**
* **Reassign your PD-Tyre to this vehicle to save tire profiles.**

### What to try

1. Open **Profile** → **PD-Tyre** → device → **Connect the vehicles** and pick the correct car.
2. On Tire Pressure Health, tap **Reassign PD-Tyre** if the box is linked to another vehicle.
3. Switch the app to the vehicle that owns the PD-Tyre, then edit **Tire Profile** again.

## Home keeps showing Tire pressure alert

### Symptom

Banner: **Tire pressure alert** — *Abnormal tire pressure or temperature detected*

### What to try

1. Open **Tire Pressure Health** and check which wheel is orange/red, or shows **LEAK** / **LOW**.
2. Verify real pressure with a gauge; inflate to the recommended cold pressure if low.
3. For **LEAK**, inspect the tyre and valve — do not ignore this flag.
4. For **BATTERY LOW**, plan to replace that wheel sensor.
5. Review **Alert Threshold** on the PD-Tyre detail page — thresholds that are too tight can trigger frequent alerts.
6. After a long drive, wait for tyres to cool before judging cold pressure.

{% hint style="info" %}
Opening Tire Pressure Health dismisses the current home alert fingerprint. The banner can return if the abnormal condition continues or changes.
{% endhint %}

## One wheel looks wrong

| Observation                           | Likely cause                      | Action                                   |
| ------------------------------------- | --------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------- |
| One wheel always empty | Unpaired / wrong ID / dead sensor | Learn or enter ID; check **LOW** battery |
| One wheel much lower pressure | Slow leak or recent service | Inspect tyre; watch for **LEAK** |
| Positions swapped after rotation | IDs still on old corners | Re-pair FL–RR to new positions |
| Hot pressure higher than cold profile | Normal heat rise | Compare when cold |

## Delete or disconnect PD-Tyre

On **Profile** → **PD-Tyre** → device (⋯ menu):

* **Disconnect** — ends the phone’s Bluetooth link to the box (when the app owns that link).
* **Delete PD-Tyre** — removes the device from your account so another account can bind it.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Delete only if you intend to unbind the hardware from this account. You will need **Connect TPMS** again to use it here.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.pd1.sg/pd-tyre/pd-tyre-troubleshooting.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
