# Getting Started with PD-Tyre

Set up your PD-Tyre system.

Set up PD-Tyre and prepare it for use.

## What you need

* **PD-Tyre** box (Bluetooth TPMS receiver)
* Wheel sensors for each tyre you want to monitor
* Smartphone with Bluetooth and Location Services turned on
* **Proteus Diagnostics** app and a logged-in account
* A vehicle profile in the app (licence plate, brand, model, and other vehicle details)
* Optional: **PD-Display** on the same vehicle (live tyre data can also come through the display)

{% hint style="info" %}
Bluetooth and Location must be enabled on your phone. The app needs Location to scan for Bluetooth devices.
{% endhint %}

## Prepare the app

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open Proteus Diagnostics

Open the app and log in or register.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Add a vehicle

Make sure at least one vehicle profile exists. PD-Tyre must be linked to a vehicle before you can save tyre settings and profiles.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Power on PD-Tyre

Turn on your PD-Tyre box and keep it near your phone so it can advertise over Bluetooth.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Connect PD-Tyre in the app

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open Connect TPMS

Go to **Profile** → **PD-Tyre**, then tap **Connect TPMS**.

You can also start from **Tire Pressure Health** (Diagnostics → Vehicle Insights) when the app prompts you to connect.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Search for the device

On **Waiting to connect with PD-Tyre**, the app starts searching automatically. You can also tap **Search Device**.

Allow Bluetooth and Location if prompted. If Location is off, the app shows: *Location is required to connect to Bluetooth. Please enable it.*
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Select and connect

When your PD-Tyre appears, check the serial number (SN), then tap **Connect**.

Wait for **Connected Success!** and **PD-Tyre connected successfully!**

{% hint style="info" %}
If the device is already linked to another account, you will see **Unable to Bind Device**. It must be unbound from that account before you can connect it.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Connect via PD-Display if prompted

If this PD-Tyre is already on a vehicle that also has a PD-Display, and the display is not connected, the app may open **Connect Display** first. Finish that step, then continue — live tyre data can be relayed through PD-Display.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Bind your vehicle and finish setup

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Bind a vehicle

Open your PD-Tyre from **Profile** → **PD-Tyre**.

If no vehicle is linked yet, the app prompts: *Select a vehicle for this PD-Tyre*. Choose the correct vehicle, or use **Connect the vehicles** on the device detail page.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Confirm connection status

On the PD-Tyre detail page, confirm the device shows as connected and live pressure/temperature can appear when sensors are active.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Set Sensor IDs and Alert Threshold (optional)

While PD-Tyre is connected, open the device detail page to:

1. Set **Sensor IDs** for FL / FR / RL / RR
2. Adjust **Alert Threshold** — Low Pressure, High Pressure, Low Temperature, High Temperature

{% hint style="info" %}
Editing Sensor IDs or alert thresholds needs a live link to PD-Tyre (phone Bluetooth, or via PD-Display). If the box is disconnected, reconnect with **Connect TPMS** first.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### You’re ready

PD-Tyre is linked to your account and vehicle. Next, install the wheel sensors and pair them so live tyre data appears in the app.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

2. [Pair each sensor](/pd-tyre/pairing-the-sensors.md) with the system.
3. [Review tyre pressure and temperature](/pd-tyre/understanding-tyre-data.md) in Tire Pressure Health or on PD-Display (if you use one).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.pd1.sg/pd-tyre/getting-started-with-pd-tyre.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
