# Getting Started with PD-Display

Set up your PD-Display.

Set up PD-Display and prepare it for use.

## What you need

* **PD-1** OBD dongle
* **PD-Display** unit and mount
* USB Type‑C power cable (PD-1 ↔ PD-Display)
* Smartphone with Bluetooth and Location Services
* **Proteus Diagnostics** app
* Wi‑Fi network or mobile hotspot
* Compatible vehicle with an accessible OBD‑II port

{% hint style="info" %}
**Power:** PD-Display draws power from the OBD port through PD-1 via the Type‑C cable. No separate cigarette-lighter adapter is required.
{% endhint %}

## Install the hardware

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Insert PD-1

Locate your vehicle’s OBD‑II port (usually under the driver’s side dashboard). Plug **PD-1** in firmly.

Wait for the indicator to show a **green flashing light** — Bluetooth is ready.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Mount PD-Display

Secure PD-Display on the windshield or dashboard with the provided mount.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Connect power

Plug one end of the Type‑C cable into PD-1 and the other into PD-Display.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Start the engine

Start the engine so PD-1 and PD-Display power on.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.pd1.sg/pd-display/getting-started-with-pd-display.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
