# Connecting PD-Display

Connect PD-Display to your vehicle.

Connect PD-Display to your vehicle and the app.

## Before you start

* PD-1 and PD-Display are installed and powered (engine running).
* PD-Display firmware is up to date.
* **Proteus Diagnostics** is installed on your phone.

## Log in and pair PD-1

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open the app

Open **Proteus Diagnostics** and log in or register (Google, Apple, or email).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Connect PD-1

Tap **Connect PD-1**. Enable **Bluetooth** and **Location** when prompted. Wait for **PD-1 connected successfully!**
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Add your vehicle

Create a vehicle profile with licence plate, brand, model, energy type, and year. VIN can be keyed in or auto-detected.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Upgrade PD-1 if prompted

If you see **Hardware Upgrade Detected**, tap **Upgrade Now**.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Keep the engine running, keep the app open, and do not unplug PD-1 until the upgrade reaches 100%.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Connect and bind PD-Display

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Connect Display

In the app, open the **PD-Display** tab and tap **Connect Display**. Wait for Bluetooth pairing with the screen.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Initialise basic live data

Tap **Scan Basic Live Data**, then **Start**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Bind the vehicle on the display

When the display asks to bind the detected vehicle, tap **Confirm**.

On the **Bind Vehicle** checklist:

* Keep **Initialize basic live data** checked
* **Untick Initialize OEM live data**

Then tap **Confirm**.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Only initialise **basic live data** at this stage. Leave **OEM live data** unticked.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Download the data package

1. Connect PD-Display to Wi‑Fi or a hotspot.
2. On **Verify Vehicle Match**, confirm the VIN and tap **Yes**.
3. Wait for the download (**about 5–10 minutes**, depending on internet speed).

When it finishes, live gauges appear on PD-Display.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="info" %}
If Bluetooth does not hand off cleanly from the phone to the display, exit the app setup flow and reconnect from the **PD-Display** tab or the display prompt.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.pd1.sg/pd-display/connecting-pd-display.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
